Greek naming conventions — Alexandros, Thessa, Korindas, Pellanis, Myrene, Arkethos Also called "Myrea" and "the Cities" informally

Territory: The Egyptian/Libyan/Algerian coast (coast only — the interior of that same landmass belongs to the Lizardfolk; see Geography document), Greece, and all Mediterranean islands including Sardinia.

Government: A loose coalition of city-states. No single ruler — a council where each city sends representatives. Getting them to agree takes three times as long as it should.

Military: Larger potential army than the Imperium through sheer numbers of city militias, but less cohesive and harder to coordinate. Individual city militias have different equipment, training, and loyalty. Dangerous on home soil; unreliable in coordinated campaigns. The Confederacy's real strength has always been its navy — home waters, and centuries of shipbuilding tradition. Catfolk-built hulls and Catfolk captains are what every serious Confederacy admiral actually wants, and the fleet's reputation leans on both; see Catfolk document. The Confederacy does field airships, but not as a substitute for a lost sea — what that's really about is a story for later.

Technology: Slightly behind the Imperium. Some cities modernizing rapidly; others conservative and proud of it. Crossbows remain common alongside early firearms. This split between old-way cities and modernizing ones mirrors the Imperium's senate crisis but is messier and more localized.

Religion: The most religiously diverse nation. The Host (everyday pantheon) has its strongest foothold here — without central authority, no single church has dominated. A major city might have temples to a dozen patron deities.

Political situation: The Confederacy's city-states could fracture at any time, with individual cities cutting separate deals with the Imperium. This is the Imperium's preferred pressure point.

Sigils present: Shade, Wayfarer

Note: The Shade Sigil belonging to an official nation is an open secret that nobody raises at diplomatic functions. The Confederacy calls it "information gathering." The Imperium calls it what it is.

Borders: Unofficially borders the Monster Kingdom (Iberia) across the Mediterranean — the Confederacy's Iberian-facing shore and outer island holdings are its most exposed, least-defensible territory.
