Tir Hathar — Unconquered Peoples and Wildlands¶
Low priority — developed over the course of campaigns as needed
The Lizardfolk¶
Unconquered peoples rather than a unified nation. Ancient warrior culture that predates the human kingdoms. They remember being the dominant power before the Great Houses rose.
Territory: Hold the interior of the same landmass where the Myrean Confederacy and the Giants hold coastal footholds (the African analog continent — see Geography document). Dinosaurs as the continent's apex predators are a large part of why the interior has never been conquered — no army, human or otherwise, has taken it at acceptable cost. Lizardfolk sovereignty here is a fact of geography and biology as much as culture.
Not evil — wild. Lizardfolk aren't meant to read as an evil people, just an incredibly raw, savage, and untamed one. Their reputation and the danger of their territory come from ferocity and a genuinely alien culture, not malice.
The Kobolds¶
To Lizardfolk as goblins were to orcs — subordinate, separate, cunning, resentful. Share the same landmass and territory as the Lizardfolk.
The Goblins (and Hobgoblins, and Bugbears)¶
Also unconquered — nobody, Giants included, actually controls Mexico's interior; the goblins simply filled the vacuum the Catfolk Diaspora left behind, and nobody has displaced them since. See the Goblins document for the full write-up (territory, culture, the Cinder Sigil, the Hobgoblin split into Ssyrathis).
The Northern Reaches¶
An abbreviated Poland/Russia analog to the northeast, unconquered for a different reason than dinosaurs or a dragon's court — the Ice-Trolls, one regenerating species split by extreme sexual dimorphism into nomadic, mammoth-riding males ("Yeti") and settled, spider-farming females ("Hags") living in small hamlets, plus Witches and Ettercaps. Naturalists defending grazing land, not mindless monsters — the deterrent is that armies simply don't work against what lives there. See The Northern Reaches document for the full write-up, including its tie to the forbidden Unbound magical tradition and a real trophic ecology (mammoths, giant spiders, winter wolves, and more).
The Wildlands¶
Beyond the mapped nations, unconquered territory that nobody governs and everyone is cautious about. Not tied to any single landmass — a catch-all for unclaimed space on the map wherever it's needed.
See Geography document for the dinosaur continent's scale, density, and climate notes, and for Mexico's geography. See Giant Kingdoms.md and The Myrean Confederacy.md for the other powers with a presence on the dinosaur continent, Goblins.md and Catfolk.md for Mexico's peoples, and The Northern Reaches.md for Trolls, Hags, and Witches.
